Cause and effect are very important to helping the reader understand events in a logical order. Cause, is what made something happen, it is the first domino basically. The effect is what became of the event because of that cause. It goes in a domino effect from one cause to the next effect. This actually allows the reader to predict what a future outcome may be. Every article has some cause or effect, it can be very small or hidden, or it can be a major part to the story.
Cause and effect are like a timeline to a story. You can trace events backwards and forwards and see what they all lead too. In fact, some causes actually go back to become an effect in the major scheme of the story. It is interesting how one subject can totally effect another and it just keeps going. Authors use this in telling stories because the reader can break it down and have it make more sense to them, and really get the big picture. Cause and effect may be one of the biggest tools used in writing and reading an article or essay.
