Blog 11A

An introduction can be one of the most important parts of an essay for an author to use. An introduction states what the author is trying to tell the reader. In an introduction, the reader will find what they need to be looking for during the reading that they will be doing. The introduction needs to have a thesis, which clearly states what the authors point is, and how they feel about the topic they are presenting. In the introduction it can also talk about the rhetorical tools which will be used, in order for the reader to understand the main topics being presented. The author may also justify their arguments and why they are important in this introduction. If used properly, the introduction can make or break an article because it can grab a readers attention or lose it completely.

  1. Riley, You're blog entry was very well written and included a lot of very useful information. I liked and find to be true is that an introduction can make or break a paper. Its true that if a piece of writing doesn't stand out to you the chances of you reading it are slim. One thing you forgot to mention is the importance of having a hook statement that pulls a reader in.
